A Call to Inner Cleansing and Genuine Love
As we observe Day 12 of the CLC Fasting and Prayer, the Lord is drawing our attention inward to the state of our hearts. Fasting is not only about denying the body; it is about allowing God to purify the soul and transform our character. Spiritual disciplines lose their power when the heart is polluted by unresolved emotions and unhealthy attitudes.
Today, God invites us into a deeper work of inner cleansing and heart renewal.
Removing the Poisons of the Heart
Many spiritual struggles are rooted not in external attacks, but in internal toxins — pride, anger, bitterness, malice, unforgiveness, envy, and a critical spirit. These attitudes quietly poison our prayers, weaken our relationships, and hinder our spiritual growth.
The Word of God instructs us clearly in Ephesians 4:31:
“Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamour, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.”
This is not merely good advice; it is a divine command. God desires hearts that are free, healed, and aligned with His nature.
Cleansed in Flesh and in Spirit
True holiness is not only about what we do, but about who we are becoming. God is concerned with both our outward actions and our inward motives.
2 Corinthians 7:1 reminds us:
“Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
Today’s prayers are about surrender — asking God to uproot every attitude, habit, and mindset that contradicts His holiness and contaminates our worship.
Guarding the Unity of the Body of Christ
Offence is one of Satan’s most effective tools against the Church. When believers become channels of hurt, gossip, and division, the entire body is weakened. That is why we humbly pray today that we will not be:
Sources of offence
Instruments of conflict
Channels of discouragement
Instead, we choose to be carriers of peace, healing, and encouragement within CLC.
Walking in Genuine Love
At the heart of today’s focus is one powerful call — to love as Christ loves. Not selective love. Not convenient love. But genuine, patient, forgiving love that reflects the heart of God.
1 Corinthians 13:5 tells us:
“Love is not rude. It is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered, and it keeps no account of wrongs.”
True love releases offences, refuses revenge, and chooses grace over resentment. It is impossible to walk fully in God’s power while holding tightly to unforgiveness.
Prayer Focus for Day 12
Today we pray:
Father, uproot every trace of pride, anger, malice, bitterness, and unforgiveness from my heart.
Deliver me from the spirit of revenge, envy, and a critical or judgmental spirit, every spiritual toxin.
Help me not to be a source of offence in the Body of Christ, especially within CLC.
Teach me what genuine love truly is, and help me to walk in it toward all people.
Closing Declaration
Today we choose healing over hurt, love over resentment, humility over pride, and unity over division. We submit our hearts to God’s cleansing fire and allow His love to flow through us freely.
May our fasting be pure, our prayers be powerful, and our hearts be pleasing to God.
