As we step into this glorious month of November, the Lord has given us a reassuring theme— “Goodness and Mercy Shall Follow Me” (Psalm 23:6). It’s more than a declaration; it’s a divine promise and a prophetic covering over everyone connected to Christ Legacy Chapel.
Psalm 23 is one of the most beloved passages in Scripture, written by David under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. It reflects the heart of a man who has learned to trust completely in the Shepherd of his soul—the One who leads, restores, protects, and provides. The final verse, “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,” is a confident conclusion of faith. It is David’s way of saying, “I am not just being led by God; I am being followed by His blessings.”
Understanding the Promise
When the Bible says “goodness and mercy shall follow me,” it paints the picture of God’s divine attributes actively pursuing us.
It’s not a passive statement—it’s a dynamic assurance that everywhere we go, God’s goodness and mercy are in motion behind us.
- Goodness represents God’s favor, provision, kindness, and grace. It is everything God does that brings joy, fulfillment, and blessing to His children.
- Mercy represents God’s compassion, forgiveness, and protection from harm and judgment. It is His love that covers our weaknesses and restores us when we fall.
Together, goodness and mercy form a complete expression of God’s character toward His people. His goodness gives us what we don’t deserve, and His mercy withholds what we do deserve.
The Continuity of the Promise
The verse continues: “…all the days of my life.”
This means God’s goodness and mercy are not seasonal—they are constant companions. They don’t come and go depending on our circumstances or performance. Whether on the mountaintop or in the valley, God’s presence ensures that His goodness and mercy never leave us.
In a world filled with uncertainty, economic challenges, and anxiety about the future, this truth becomes our anchor. We can boldly face each day knowing that no matter what lies ahead, we are followed by divine favor and covered by unfailing love.
Walking in the Reality of the Promise

Confession builds conviction. Wake up every morning and declare, “Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me today.” Speak it over your family, your work, your business, and your health. - Show goodness and mercy to others.
As recipients of God’s love, we are also channels of His character. When you extend kindness and forgiveness to others, you multiply the flow of divine favor in your own life.
